hey gang .... Ordered a Katz from LLBean for $169 few weeks ago and now looking at it, it has two eye sores on it. The knife is great, and RAZOR sharp .... sharpest out of the box i have ever owned. Have a look at the two eyesores tell me what you think.

1. This looks like it may be polishable, i haven't tried though

2. This just makes it look like some factory second .... what is up with this:

Bought a Katz hunter while in the US recently - it appeared to be blunt - not much of a bevel to the edge and it battled to cut leather - would not cut paper. Have battled to sharpen it - now it cuts leather ok but not paper. Steel appears really hard and difficult to sharpen. It's a pity - have heard a lot about Katz knives and now I'm disappointed and have lost faith in what appears to be a really well made knife. Hard to return it from Africa.

sure i do .... lets hear them :D

It's sharp as hell, it shaves, it cuts paper like butter. I'm not disappointed with it's blade or sharpness i just don't like the two "defects" if you will on it.

Is this some factory second or what?

The pommel isn't like the ones I've handled.

The ones I've looked at had been polished/sanded to the point that I could only see an outline - not as conspicuous as that pictured.
