Is my knife worth anything or will it be in the future?

I only have one knife. I have an Uncle Henry Schrade USA 706 UH. It has been used. On the front on the knife it shows "Uncle Henry". However, it does not say Gentleman Jim anywhere. I was thinking of talking it to a shop that buyers knifes. The retail price was $20.85 but that was in 1988. I just wanted to know if it is worth anything or will be worth anything in the future. Thank you for this information.

No one can determine what it is worth without seeing it, as they can't see it's condition...so if you can post some pictures, that would help. Uncle Henry's weren't typically marked with model names, hence no Gentleman Jim. If it's in decent shape now, then I would guess it will appreciate in value in the future. I, however, suggest you don't plan your retirement around it.

New in a brown Schrade box, that is a fairly sought after pattern. It was only made for four years. At one time a couple years ago I sold one to an Ebay seller who sells completed cases and I got about $80.00 for it. That was a rare sale, but it generally sells for a good price on Ebay. Different patterns go hot and cold though, and most of the time when an Uncle Henry is used the don't bring a big price, unless two new collectors decide they want it now.

I can't post a pictures yet. The knife has been used. The knife has normal wear & tear. It does need sharpening. Also, it might need oiling for easier opening. What I would also like to know is where I can take it in Eastern Indiana or Western Ohio & get a decent price for it.

With gas prices the way they are, if you drive more than 50 miles from home to sell the knife, you'd go in the hole.

Unless you are a collector missing this example the value of these is not much different than the original retail.
MOP..

So, I wouldn't get much at a places that buy knifes or at a pawn shop.

Pawn shop you can get your merchandise back for a fee.

However, after looking at picture. I am going to have to take a closer look at my knife. It looks like I may have a model where the DE are smashed together in the word Scrade.

off topic a little.

That why my mother took a loss on some jewelry she had. She would of got more but with the price of gas, it would of been the same.

That changes everything! :D

Normally, the D & E are ALMOST touching. If they are, it could be that there was some crap, such as a metal fragment, caught between them on the head of the stamp. I don't honestly think that such a "variation" would likely add or subtract to it's value significantly. You might considerer checking out the online auction sites to see what ones in similar condition might be fetching. Likewise, that might be your best place to consider selling it (after here, of course). Several good, clear photos are almost a must.
