Is my new Mini Pentagon authentic?

Just picked one up. Looks a bit different from my older one:

1. Kraton vs. Zytel handle, that's fine.

2. Logo change, ok.

3. All the pics show serrations going almost to the point. MINE go until approx. 1 1/4" away from the point. In other words, it is plain edged sharpened from the point back 1 1/4", then serrations begin.

4. Blade seems a touch more broad..more 'leaf-like' then the pointy older ones.

I just want to make sure this is a revised, authentic edition, rather than a knock-off.

No, I don't, but based on further study, it appears I have a real one. Posted pics on various dealers sites are all over the place, but I did find some with the serrations as described above.

Hi diamdave,

No way to confirm authencity without a pic! If you trust you have an authentic SOG then you're probably right.

What I do know is that the new mini-pentagon, actually called the "Pentagon Mini" differs from the old mini-pentagon in the aspects you mentioned.

What we do notice is that the serrations do not go all the way to the tip, there is a SOG logo on the handle, and the 'split-bullet- sog logo can be found on the ricasso along with the model name. On the other side is the engraving 'TAIWAN'.

We haven't done up the knife profile for the mini-pentagon as of yet. But we have done up the older brother's version. See it here: http://www.sogknivescollectors.com/pentagon.php

It will be better if you post a picture for us to scrutinize. :p

Cheers,
Mark ;)

Mine says 'mini pentagon' under 'SOG'. I'll try an post a pic or two to make sure. Thanks.
