Is my old ATS-55 Endura a freak of nature?

I've carried an old PE Endura off an on for many years now. Despite it's lack of a Boye dent, it's never closed up on me, lopping off fingers in the process. And despite being ATS-55, I've carried it to the beach and on many a fishing trips (including clipped to my pants while I casted for bass chest deep in a Central Florida lake) and have never had a problem with corrosion or edge-keeping. I keep waiting (almost hoping) for this thing to die do I'll have an excuse to buy a newer "better" model. :)

I've no idea how old you are, but it sounds like you must live another hundred years before you have to replace your Endura ATS-55 :jerkit:

It seems, that you have to find another excuse for buying a new Spydie ;) :D

Age has little to do with it ......... it's marital status! :D Too many diapers to pay for to justify replacing the thing.

He, he, I can tell you a couple stories myself about ATS-55 and the lack of the Boye dent :) My first Delica was / is such breed. And guess what? I am very fond of the little one. After (I think) five years, it still is in mint condition (and cuts like hell, but that's self understanding) ;)
I must state, though, that this didn't stop me to get new Delica(s). Neither should you. In fact, I think that you and your Endura went through so many things together that the poor knife needs a well deserved break. ;)

had a gin1 endura used it till i broke the clip off it
gave it to my brother he useed it till all the teeth fell out (sharpened off) btw i can tell you i had never had any problems with it and my bro used it to cut pvc pipe and drywall
its still around someplace and still sharp it has lost its teeth and some of its nose but shes a fighter and still a dam fine cutter just not as purdy as she once was

I used an ATS-55 Endura and Delica around salt water for several years, and never had any issues with salt water. The only issues I had were that they didn't float when they got dropped overboard.

A friend of mine uses an ATS-55 Endura at the aquafarm everyday, and it's help up rather well. The only place where rust is prevalent is in the locking notch. He also managed to actually stain the blade somehow too. Otherwise, its still sharp as a razor (thanks to me:D ).

I love my ATS-55 blades. Only found rust in one and I blame myself for neglect. Definitely an underrated blade steel.
