Is my SOG fake?

Looking for some help here. I was at a flea market today and picked up a SOG Desert Dagger. I own serveral other SOGs, but I bought them from retailers. My main concern involves the blade. It has the traditional SOG Specialty Knives logo, but on the other side of the blade does not have "Seki-Japan". Did they make this knife like this? There is also a slight gap (about 1 mm) between the blade and handle/tang. The knife is in mint condition but did not come with the correct sheath. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry, man. Just did the research and it looks like a fake. How much you pay for it?
 
No biggie. My dad has a SOG that looks like the desert dagger without the serrated edges. He got it when he was in the Army. I forget the name of the knife. I'm going to compare the two. I thought the blood groove looked a little funny as well. I would rather pay $30 and gain the knowledge than make the same mistake down the road. Thanks for the info!

Here's a pic of the real deal, it has Seki-Japan on the other side. I got this pic off the official SOG Knife collectors website. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being an impossible to find super rare knife, they rate this at an 8. It's not likely you would find one for $30.

Yuuup. I should have took a sec to do a little research. Was worth a shot. It could have been worse. You live and you learn. However, I'm going to save for the real mocoy. Quick question, what is the name of the SOG that looks just like the desert dagger but without the serrated edges?

That would be the SOG Daggert 2, but it still has serrated edge on one side. Im pretty sure they don't make a fully plain edge dagger
 
You are correct. I got an older Gerber dagger confused with the SOG Government model...I don't know how. LOL
 
Meh, you got a $30 dollar knife out of it at least. Use it car camping and you won't have to worry when you give it to someone else to use.
 
Thanks to everyone for all the info and insight by the way. Has anyone seen a copy like mine? I'm also wondering if I could sell it on eBay? I would make sure I note the knife as a fake/copy of course. Any thoughts?
