Hello,

That is Abused blade, not abuse blade I carry about 3 EDC's and one is set aside for abusive or dirty work. You know cutting radiator hoses, stripping wire.
My daily carry is generally a Kershaw Chive, Tom Anderson Custom and my Abused Blade is my Busse Assault Shaker. I carry it daily as a neck knife and that thing can handle anything I throw at it.
I also feel more secure knowing that I can't possibly damage it, so it is brought out for all the tough stuff.

It might not always look good but I keep it razor sharp, just in case.

So how about you, do you have one you don't mind abusing?

thanks

All my knives are beater knives. My Sebenza 21s and my hinderer included will get beat up like a red headed step child as years go by. Can't enjoy a knife unless you use it. Same as firearms and cars.

I generally carry 3 knives to deal with whatever Mr Murphy has throws my way! I also have a SAK huntsman or spartan that is always with me and a small blade n scissors in my money clip! So, I'm covered no matter what type of shit comes rolling downhill...IMG_20210403_060038.jpg

In my opinion there's a difference between using a knife and abusing a knife, I treat my knives the same way I treat my clothes, I have some clothes that are used for dirty jobs and some clothes that I use only for formal events. I don't wear my £700.00 Armani suit to a job site, or working over in the allotment tilling the muddy soil. I don't wear my filthy cargos to a wedding. But both outfits get used. If somebody wants to keep an expensive knife in good condition for light use, that's fine in my opinion. Some people don't enjoy dirtying up expensive things.

I have a Ruike Hornet in 14C28N living in my backpack for exactly this.

I use the knife I have with me for whatever job I have going.
If I foresee that I have an extreme task I select the k390 endela.
For some reason I don't care what I do to that knife.

for that type of hard use, I prefer a fixed blade & something low cost -> so my mora companion usually takes the punishment

it's held up extremely well

Material possessions are not meant to be worshipped or adored.

I don't quite think keeping something in good condition equals worship. I don't mind when my son puts his grubby hands all over a cheap print painting, or a knife calendar on my wall, but I'm not going to let him put his grubby hands all over one of my grandfathers original oil paintings. Because I want to keep his original paintings in good condition. Not all "Material posessions" are equal.
The same way I understand how somebody doesn't care if I use his cheap CRKT to scrape off some paint from a metal surface. But he might not appreciate if I used his expensive custom or William Henry to scrape metal.

I agree, my K390 Delica is far from Delicate.

Damn it guys! I’ve been flip-flopping about picking up a K390 Endura for weeks now. This website is nothing but a group of enablers! ;)

I prefer “tactical” knives, so my situation is a bit opposite - I have some dedicated light use knives :) Only three actually, small ebony Sebenza 21, shiny SAK Climber in black and nice medium Stockman with horn scales.
But I need to mention that l don’t really have the tough tasks for my knives accept when I am at work or around the house, and there I always have multi tools that is very convenient for abuse.

Not abusing something you paid hundreds of dollars for isn’t worshipping it. If knives are just tools to you, why bother collecting them and spending hours talking about them? You sound a bit preachy bud, no offense.

As for a good beater knife, Ontario SP1/Rat 1 combo does it for me

I'm not sure what world you live in but I have to disagree with how you framed the above answers.

My grandfather, a master machinist at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, gave me my first knives over 60 years ago. As a machinist he used but did not abuse his tools. He cared for them and used them appropriately. I have done the same with my tools and knives...as well as the various firearms I carried on and off the job for a few decades, including while on SRT.

There is no need to beat one's tools like a redheaded stepchild if one actually knows how to use their tools.

Now sledging a door to make an entry...yeah, I beat on those pretty hard.

And most of my vehicles, including motorcycles, last a decade or longer. Clearly, I must be doing something wrong.
