Is paracord a viable alternative to G-clips?

I want a G-clip to mount my Kydex sheath for horizontal carry, but I can't find any that would fit for sure.

So, what I was thinking was to thread paracord through the eyelets in a braided fashion to have a place to slot the belt through. Would that work or is that somewhat risky?

It works just fine as long as the paracord is secured well and your sheath has holes in the right places to make it work. I like to use a barred "X" pattern like this: |X|
 
I agree with gomipile I have used the exact same method and assuming you get it tight enough it should work great.
 
Alright, thanks. The sheath has 4 holes on each side, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
