Can it be cut and polished nicely, like ivories and stabilized woods or man made materials like G10 and Micarta?

Any nice examples out there, that you can post pic's of?

It is hard as rock you need diamond saws and lapidry equipment to work with it and it is very heavy.

It is very hard. The main mineral found in petrified wood is quartz. I have seen it used for insets, but never for the whole handle. It is heavy, and when polished it is very slick.

I would take a guess that if anyone uses / has used it for a whole handle, it's Jay Fisher.

Yes, I have seen Jay Fisher's petrified wood handles and I saw petrified dinosaur bones and corprolites in his handles too. Go to Jay Fisher .com

You might want to check Jot Singh Kalsa's website also.
I know David Broadwell used some stones too. I've seen Jade, Lapis, Dinosaur bone, and some others from him as well.
