Hello All-

New around here. I'm looking at a Bark River Northstar, but it is "pinless". What are the ramifications of that, if any?

Thanks
Chewy

To be honest I have never seen a "pinless" BRKT. Do you have a link to the knife, or a picture. Do you mean "hidden tang".

The epoxy should be strong enough to hold the scales to the tang. either way if anything should happen to the handles mike over at BRKT has an awesome warranty.

I like the pins personally. It makes me feel like the handle is more secure but I think they add to the look also.

Hey Chewy,

You are making an excellent choice in the Barkie Northstar. I have a few Barlies and they are excellent. With the adhesives used today, I think the pins are decorations. You'll be fine either way.

In the day, pins were the only thing to hold on handles. They were a tight fit and eventually caused cracking around the pin hole, not good on organic stuff like bone or antler. Too brittle.

Epoxies solved all that. Randall has been using it on the #14 Attack and no complaints seem evident for decades, among dozens of others. It's good.
