Is REKAT gone?

No doubt this has been done to death, but has REKAT closed up shop? Their website is gone, and it seems retailers who were once carrying their product are either blowing it out, or not stocking it anymore.

I know they had some public relation issues (i.e. they didn't have any public relations, they let the forum degnerate until it was shut down, quality control issues..) but they made interesting knives.

I can't say why they closed their Web site but is my understanding that they are alive & well but withdrew from the forums because of ceaseless trolling to which they were subjected. I have no specifics but also heard that they are concentrating more on the tool side of their operation.

Wow. I knew that their web site was offline (and frankly, not that user friendly to begin with), but damned if they don't make good knives. If they are gone, it will be a loss to the field.

I'm also glad I bought by Carnivour in Talonite when I did.

Ok lets play the game of what if.
If REKAT went under.
Until the patent ran out anyone not already under license would have to pay royalties to use the lock.
Pat Carwford would still do customs and that’s where I got my start building customs.
I would go back to building customs; I do build one from time to time in my spare time. That would leave three sources of customs. Who is the third, well that’s a big part of what has cut down the time that I have to spend on the web. This is a (you heard it first on blade forums and you all should know I like to keep my personal life to myself) I got married on the 6th of June and my wife likes to make knifes as a hobby. She has not got to folders yet but she may some day. Maybe a third.
Will the Rolling Lock die and fade away into history? No way in the hot place! It would live on, if in only in the custom line.
Reality, Where is Round Eye Knife & tool. Still building knives but taking on a tool line outside of the knife industry. Is REKAT getting out of the knife industry, no at this time there are eleven new knives on the board for potential prototyping. There it is and some more that I like to put on the net but it’s where were at. REKAT is firm and solid.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know how long ago the Pocket Hobbit was discontinued and if anyone is still selling them? Thanks.

The Pocket Hobbit waas just recently discontinued. Oso Grande Knife and Tool, Discount Knives and Bladeart still list them on their sites as being available. I do not know Oso Grande at all. You may want to check out Discount Knives over in the GB&U forum. Some good and some not so good reports. I recommend Bladeart, but their price is a little higher.
