Is SMKW having shipping problems?

I decided to order a XT1B from them and placed the order on the 25th. I started to worry since I do not live very far from them (only 1 state between) and haven't received anything. I called to check and was told it shipped this Monday, the 31st. This is the second time I have had a problem with them being very slow about sending something out, and I have only ordered twice. The first time was at the first of the year and it took them over a week to ship it out. I was told it was due to it being their inventory time. I understand this but I wish that would have posted it on their website. The person I talked to was very nice and even refunded my shipping. I didn't even ask for it to be refunded, the only thing I said was that I was disappointed that there wasn't a disclaimer on the site about the shipping downtime. This time I didn't ask why it was slow going out, I was happy that it wasn't out of stock. Over 4 business days to get something out of a warehouse seems extremely slow.

Is SMKW usually like this? Needless to say I haven't been very impressed with their shipping especially when I'm paying $6 to ship a knife. Has anyone else had a similiar situation?

That knife is listed as Out Of Stock. They may have had to hunt around to find one for you. I imagine the Schrade knives didn't come cataloged, inventoried, organized, and ready to ship. I've noticed some of the knives alternate from "Out Of Stock" to "In Stock."

Sounds like they made it square with you. Free shipping is cool.

I always pay by check so I don't get in too much of a rush to get my purchase but sometimes SMKW is much slower than usual. Generally, though, I have been pretty much satisfied with my dealings with them.

That seems to be the time frame I get my order's from them...anywhere from 6-10 days. Not a big deal, as far as I'm concerned. They've been pretty consistent, so I know what to expect.

I have bought alot of knives through them and never had a problem, I would say it is an isolated incident. I

Since this thread was bumped up I thought I should post a follow up. After reading the replies I was confident that this wasn't a normal operating procedure for SMKW. I have placed 2 more orders since then and they have been delivered in excellent time. I must have had bad luck with the first two. Although on the last order, which I placed by the internet, I had to call to verify that the order went through because I received an error message instead of the usual confirmation screen. The person I talked to was friendly and said that every once in a while they have a problem like that and he checked to make sure the order was placed, it was. SMKW must be a bad luck magnet for me! All the people I have talked to have been great and they definately do their best to get things right. I will be ordering from them again in the future.
