Is Spyderco still going to make a Military Jr.?

I read on one of the archive forums that Spyderco was going to make a military Jr. model. Just wondering if it is still in the makes. That would be great, as long as they kept the same type of blade and thickness.

I haven't heard anything about this, but I will be very interested to know if they are going to make this knife. I had a Military before but I sold it because I thought it wes to big. The jr. would be just right.

I know it had been discussed but I can't recall if it was definitely a "go". You might get a better response asking this in the Sypderco Forum. I know Sal Glesser monitors that board but I doubt if he has time to scan them all.

BTW, welcome to BF.

On the Spyderco forum Sal has mentioned that prototypes have been built using different blade materials, but I think that is as far as it has gone.

Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."

I've been wishing for a smaller Military for a long time.
Hope the rumor is true.

Hi Brasso!

Yes there will most certainly be a mini Military. Here are some answers by Sal, refering to this topic:

March 15, 2001.
The first run of Mil jr will be a test for us to see if we want to make them. Only a small number of the test run will be available for purchase and probably at a pretty high price.

We have plans for a Mil jr short run in BG42 as a test for the design and the steel. Probably about 150 pieces.
They won't be available to the general market unless the test goes well.

PS (On this occasion, Sal mentioned that the knife will feature the new compression lock!)
