Is stainless steel a good metal for knives?

Throwing knives actually. I'm wondering if stainless steel is durable, and if it will last. I'm talking, 420 stainless steel. What do you guys think? The knife i'm wanting is 13" made with 420 stainless steel but I heard that it's not the best for throwing and carbon steel is better. What do you guys think. Thanks

We have a forum for throwing knives, so I moved this there for you.

High carbon sounds best to me, but depending on the particular knife, stainless should work, and I'd go with a very basic stainless like 420 with no worries.

I have a couple stainless throwers. No problems, and some are over a quarter century old.
