Ive heard a few things about strider, some say they are user knives and not show pieces. I was interested in getting an smf with tiger stripes. so i called tnk and spoke with a salesman who asured me the fit and finish are perfect. So im expecting sebenza perfect. Anyone own a strider and can comment on fit and finish. Thanks

Sebenza F/F is tops in all categories.

Strider is rough, generally speaking, not an aesthetically fine finish. Fit tends to run from perfect(as good as Sebenza) to not perfect.

I've handled both and come to the same conclusion Steven has reached.

What is this knife going to be used for....two different "basic" applications with these knives ....

What's that got to do with which companies' knives are consistently better in F/F? Or is this going to lead to one of those "Working knives are supposed to come with craptacular finishes" type comments? If I'm off base please forgive me, it's been a long day. If not I believe that line of thinking is a little backwards. Especially at the price point we are discussing.

Other than that I'd say Kohai has it right.

As accurate an assessment as you will find anywhere! (A new Strider is often referred to as LUIB -- "Like Used In Box" ;)

In almost every single strider vs sebenza thread, everyone agrees that a strider F&F does not match a sebenza.

"perfect" has as many definitions as people. What you should do is determine what sebenza perfect means TO YOU. Then with those qualities in mind as specific questions about the specific knife in question.

I've seen and handled an SNG and owned a PT, an owned one each of a small Sebenza and a large Sebenza. Simply put they are all great knives but the Sebenza is in my opinion the better for fit and finish. In fact its night and day really. Chris and his team don't miss much and overall make the best engineered production folder available to anyone. Again, my opinion.

STeven is spot on!!!

the seb has great F&F, as good as any around imho.

while the finish isnt as good on my strider SnG vs my seb i very much prefer the SnG to the seb, i have never been a big fan of sebs though i have had several, my son really likes my seb though, he gets it for his next b-day FWIW, but the seb has just never been a big fav of mine, not that its not a great little knife though.

Sebenzas are generally considered having the better fit and finish, but you may have to accept somebody else's list of what is important.

NO maker has to copy somebody else's standards. They can choose their own, in their design, to market to their customers.

The different customer bases are happy using their different knives different ways for different reasons, and not seeing the differences is indicative of a lack of understanding about knives, design features, and the market. When you look past the similarities of steel, titanium framelock, and pocket clip, you discover the differences, which are everything else: blade grind, shape, choils, G10 materials, pivot, opening style, handle shape, size, edge length, construction, and, yes, fit and finish.

When you get to physically handle the knives, you can decide for yourself what pleases you.

I'm sorry, but am having a hard time following what you are saying....you want to try some clarity for understanding? Keep it simple.

...or you could ask yet another original question like "What are you carrying today?"...or..."What do you recommend for less than $150.?"...or...;) ;) ;)

I think he's trying to say this:

Thank you for interpreting Dave H.! Whatever Tirod3 said, it was about as clear as mud to me.
