ok, i was just wondering how many of you, if any, carry a big strider IWB? if so, is it hard to draw cause its so long? does anybody notice it? can you sit down with it, and who did you get to make the sheath?

the reason i wanted to know is cause i work in a very small pharmacy and its just a matter of time before we eventually get held up(we've been robbed 2 times already when the store was closed). no one else there seems to really care other than my dad whos a pharmacist there,he carries a glock 26 or his colt .45 officers model. I was thinking about gettin something like an MH and getting a custom IWB sheath made for it, since there is no blade length limit in pa :D

I'd think twice about whipping a blade out in a gunfight. Even if it is a Strider.

i dont think id use a knife in a gunfight either,i mean its not MY money and if they want it THAT bad they can take it.
the only reason i considered one for SD is because both gas stations on opposite corners of the pharmacy have been held up at knifepoint before, oh and once the crazy homeless guy that lives in the post office threatened to cut out the mailmans heart with a butter knife:eek: but he runs away when he sees me coming so, hes not much of a threat.

Then don't be a fool by levelling the playing field... Poke a GUN at the guy who brings in a knife.

pack a gun.

To answer your question, a full sized Strider IWB is a little too large IMHO. You might have trouble sitting down. A shoulder rig might work.
If you want to carry IWB look at the smaller models AD, SA, DB, HT or the TAD TKa. I carry the TKa IWB every day just the right size for me:)

Good luck,

S.

i WOULD carry a gun but im not old enough to get a ccw permit yet, but you can bet yer butt as soon as i can ill be applying for one (not that ill still be working at the same place by that time though)

sidewinder, how do you like the TKa? is it the smooth green-black, or textured black? i was thinkin about gettin one of them for my edc

Love my TKa...Carry it every day. It is very well balanced and very ergonomic (Mick - I know what your thinking :)). It is a smaller blade but well designed for most cutting tasks. It is also thinner than most of the other Strider blades thus making it ideal for IWB carry (very little printing). Also different than other Striders because of the thumb ramp (Some like it, some don't). I like it when I am cutting small stuff, I seem to get more control with it.

The one that I have has textured black G-10 a la EB. I felt the green and it was a little too smooth for me. I'm sure that it would provide sufficient grip but I'm really into getting knives with the best grip that I can get. I used to not like cord wrap until I handeled my first Strider. Now I'll swear by it.

I carry the TKa IWB strong side to come out in a reverse grip. Fast presentation and with the "drop cant on the blade horizon" (Triple Aught Design wording) this angles the knife for nice upward slashing.

If your looking to get a bigger blade, I believe that the TKa's big brother is due sometime soon.

Good luck with choosing,

S.

ps - regarding your oringinal post - If you can't get a concealed gun yet, how about an unconcealed shot gun? and a Strider GS as a back up in a shoulder rig!

man i told myself no more knives until after christmas, but it looks like ill be getting a TKa real soon, it seems to be everything ive been looking for, as far as control and comfort(not that the cord wrap isnt comfortable but i dont need a grip THAT secure when im combatting cardboard boxes and plastic wrap in eisle three), plus it looks awesome:D

Payback,

I don't know what the laws in your area say, but generally if you have a gun on your person in your place of business, you do not need a CCW. Just don't walk around town with it. I love knives and generally carry one at all times. However, it is usually a backup to my gun, except in instances where I leave my home jurisdiction and am not able to carry a gun legally concealed. Then my knife is my primary weapon.

As Kampfjaegar said - don't level the playing field, always stack the deck in your favor when possible.

Chris
