Is the 3 Mil harder than other ESEE'S

By how much?

I could be wrong but I think I read on the ESEE website that all of the knives had the same RC. I find the 3MIL I have the easiest to sharpen, but that's just due to the thinner blade I think.

I think the Mil is no different than any other ESEE in terms of hardness, but it does have red (I think..) liners instead of green, and canvas micarta instead of linen micarta. And a grey sheath instead of tan.

It doesn't have liners. The canvas micarta is flush with the tang.

Yes, my mistake..

I think some knives that were given out at a RAT training course were Mils with red liners, that's where I have seen them.

the knives with red liners were special edition south america survival knives..some sort of special addition knife...i cant see the ESEE 3 mil being any different in heat treat than any other ESEE..the only difference is the canvas micarta handle scales and the glass breaker on the pommel is the same as the ESEE 5's...polished on 2 of four sides....

the knife isnt harder...i highly doubt it...the ESEE 3 mill would be at a loss to be harder RC than normal ESEE knives..its thin...so why would you make a thin knife more brittle? makes no sense to me... i put one of my ESEE 3's through a hellish, brutal test and it took everything i could throw at it...no reason for the steel to be any different.... the onl way you can break an ESEE 3 or any ESEE knife for that matter, is deliberatley...i believe and know this...

And blade thickness is the same. About the only difference is the sharpened glass breaker (mil) and canvas scales(mil).

Thanks everyone, mine has the sharpened clip point and that to me means no prying and a weaker tip, I don't care though my 3 Mil is a sort of city self defense tool, small enough to take any where, sharp enough on all sides to feel ok with going into a gas an beer shop at 1am.

ESEE Knives improved the ESEE-3 with a Jump-Proof MOLLE Sheath System after noting improvements offered to us by soldiers and cops in the field. ESEE Knives took the popular ESEE-3, added 3/8" of handle length, a glass-breaking pommel, larger handle screws,( then differentially heat-treated the 1095 carbon steel) and dressed up the Micarta slabs to build the ESEE-3 survival knife. The ESEE-3MIL was previously available to law enforcement and military only. During that time it became the official knife of numerous law enforcement groups and special teams. It is now available to the general public.
