Is the Air Sog our version of the Buck 110?

This was my first knife purchase YEARS ago and it still holds up well. Its a cheap, well made sturdy lockback and the fully serrated AUS-6 blade is a breeze to run through the sharpmaker. Does anyone else feel that this knife is our version of the 110? In that its reliable, goes back a long way with the company, and is fairly well known.

Tracker81, I have heard a lot of great things about this knife, I'm sure anyone who has ever owned one really likes them.

I don't own one but have looked at them many times, they are a simple design that seems to work.:D

The "older" SOG forumites will remember my love affair with the AirSOG. You're right, it is a first-class utility folder that has everything. What I like about it are that it's: lightweight, very thin, features a LARGE blade for such a "small footprint," well balanced, attractive, holds a great edge, comes in both plain and serrated blades, among a host of other things.

For a 3.25" blade, one can carry it in their pocket without feeling it there...at all! Thus the "Air"SOG name. [Actually, if I remember correctly, I think this knife was designed for military-oriented pilots or Air Force personnel...but, it might be one of those names with dual meanings.]

Since I often assisted in the opening of dozens of warranty-oriented boxes in any given day, I needed a knife handy. Actually, I would always have half a dozen AirSOGs on my desk at any time; grabbing whichever one was the closest. For those who remember, I've done a number of posts here in the SOG forum on my beloved AirSOGs. For those who haven't, here are several of the classics:

Ron, that is great info., to be honest, a little depressing though, I miss Bobby B.,:( when I found out he lost his Airsog, I ordered one from SOG and sent it to him.

Thanks for posting those links.

Thank you both for sharing your experiences with this amazing knife. I unfortunatley lost my Air Sog's sheath many years ago and will hopefully be able to get a new one some day. Aside from that I also keep my Air Sog on my desk and its basically my go to knife around the house. I often wish it had a pocket clip on it, but it works great the way it is.

Robbie: I just talked with Rob (Bobby B) a couple day ago. He's doing well. Sending him an Air-SOG was very a very nice gesture.

Tracker: Glad to know you like your knife! SOG does sell replacement sheaths for a very nominal fee.
