It reminds me of the Gerber MK II that I always wanted but could never afford in the past and really cant afford now. I'm wondering if this is a decent blade for the money. Anybody here have one or even handled one in person.

I always wanted a Gerber TAC II but never managed to pick one up. It is the knife Kurt Russell carries in the movie "Big trouble in Little China" (love that movie!) any way I did get a chance to take a look at a Bear TAC II. I was'nt very impressed and chose to pass on it. They are made on the U.S. though. If I ever get the oppurtunity and have the money I will pick up a vintage Gerber.

Yeah, I had one. The one and only time I bought from SMKW. Not a bad outfit, I suppose, and they let me return the knife. It was the last Bear Tac II they had in stock and the sheath locking mechanism ended up not working properly.

$60 isn't a lot of money for a knife, granted. But for $60 you can buy a Becker BK7, CS Peacekeeper, or multitude of SAK's and Mora's. These knives are bargains for the money.

IMHO, the Bear Tac II wasn't.
