Is the Becker Crewman a good knife?

I've found a dealer with a brand new Becker Crewman for just 45 dollars including tax if I pay cash. Should I buy or look for something else? I would appreciate opinions from owners of Becker Knives on how good (or bad) these knives are. The only Becker I own is a Necker, and it's great.

They are great fixed blades for the money you pay. You can abuse the heck out of them and they will keep going.... and if they fail.... well wait.... camilus might go under soon..so maybe you couldn't get another..... but for 45 bucks I know that it will work well seeing as I own one myself... although mine is a beater and is very battered i prefer a Ranger to almost anything.... for twice the money you can get a RD-6 w/ a six inch cutting edge, 1/4 inch thick with micarta slabs.... and for the same amount of cash you can get a Scrapper 6.... if you need any links just ask....

Based on the Beckers that I own (Combat Utility and Campanion), I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Crewman, especially for $45.

You could ask down at the Camillus forum too. Lots of Becker fans there, and quite a bit of info about the Crewman.

Best Wishes,
