I know the First Production models have been around for a while, but I want a regular production piece. Some have posted that the regular production 630s have been out for months, but other than a 630 currently on Ebay that doesn't say "First Production" on the box, I have yet to see one.

Can anyone shed some light on this? :confused:

* shrugs shoulders *

I've had one on order and was told that they would be on the shelves in August. And haven't received word from the dealer. :(

I was told that they were seen, on shelf, in a Gun/Knive store in another state (not GA).

Truthfully. . .I don't know what the deal is. :D Though. . .do wish that I'd receive a "Happy Mail" from my dealer about one. :D

They had one in stock at a gun shop I go to in Kentucky a couple of weeks ago you might give them a call. Their web address is www.eliteguns.com The name of the shop is Elite Firearms. Don't expect it to show on thier web site as they dont update it too regularly. They have alot more knives than they show. Hope this helps. :)

They seem to be a hit and miss proposition right now. The knife shop I frequent is a Benchmade gold dealer and they had sold the ones they received quickly through internet orders. I was not able to get there when they had them in stock and the past couple times I have been in there they have not received any. I happened to find one in a local gun shop that carries some knives. Funny thing is this place does not seem to move knives quickly as they still had a Benchmade pinnicle in there and they are usually fairly high priced. They had a 630 sitting there and it was very reasonably priced. I just had to have it. Nice knife but it is HUGE. :eek:

I think the issue with this knife is that it was really anticipated by Benchmade fans and the info out on the net etc before it was produced created a large demand before it was ever available. I suspect that the pre pre orders for it created a big backlog before the first ones were ever shipped.

I know rjcutlery has at least one in stock, but you can't see it on their website, it's rjcutlery.com , you'll have to call in for it. they are located in victorville, CA, nicest people from what I experienced at their table at blade west 2004.

Thanks all for the responses and info. I have seen one or two for sale on the various forums, I guess I should have added that I'm looking for one at a reasonable price. I've had 3 First Productions through my hands, so I know it's just my size. I paid between $165 and $225 (Eichanized) for them, so I was expecting a regular production on to be much cheaper; I had hoped for something around $125 or so, but it seems that the demand is still high (as pointed out above), so the price is staying up.

Anyway, it's all moot as out of the blue, my buddy Harry in Vegas e-mails me and says that he knows I'm looking for a 630 so he sent one :D Thanks Harry, owe you even more beers when I get to Las Vegas!
