Is the blade of a folding knife supposed to shake between the handle? How to fix it?

Hello,

First of all, I am rather new to this forum, so if I posted in a wrong place, mods, feel free to move my thread where it should be.

Secondly, English is not my mother tongue, so I must apologise in advance for weird sentence structure and whatnot.

So, going back to the topic, today I have noticed that the blade of my William Henry folding knife is a little loose between the handle parts, i.e. is prone to the lateral blade play. While it is still very still vertically, I was wondering if there is anything I could do to tighten it up? Also, how much of a problem is it?

Thanks in advance,

YLM

Unusual for an authentic WH to have a loose blade. I believe you can tighten the pivot screw and that should take care of the problem.

It is an authentic B12 Night Tide, with the box, certificate and everything :)

Thanks for your reply, I will try that, though I am not used to such pivot.

Is it "clicking" while you shake it up and down?

Edit....

It's too hard to try to figure this out with this amount of info.

First, tighten the pivot and see if that solves your problem, it seems to me like that's the issue.

Tightening the pivot solved the problem.

The issue was that the blade was moving to the sides with little pressure applied. No problems with the lock as the blade is still when I try to move it vertically.

Thanks for all the help.

Hey YLM......off topic......but your English is a hell of a lot better than mine!!
Glad your problem was minor.

It is said that books are ought to be read in the original language since a lot of wordplay gets lost in translation, same applies for using a language. One, who spoke it since some time after birth, has a herited advantage whilst compared with someone who is learning it in addition to his/her main language. Because of that, I am very likely to miss an idiom or other more subtle cues, which makes my sentences appear less natural and sometimes rather off. With this in mind I tend to notify people about the situation, which should hint that one should re-read my comment to better understand it. This should lead to me receiving more adequate replies. Nevertheless, I appreciate the compliment :)
