Is the BM Osborne merely a "gents" knife?

The 940 is down. I recently got a 941, and I love it. Two piece aluminum handle, 3/4 stainless steel liners as part of the Axis assembly. Rugged blade. It is pretty tough. So, no, the 940 is not a "gents" knife. The 941 would do everything for me. Very versatile EDC sport/utility knife.

I recall reading a post somewhere a few months ago by a martial arts instructor who carries a 940 as a back-up piece. I don't think it was originally designed for that application, but, in the right hands, you never know.

I recently picked up the new 943. Same knife, with a modified clip-point blade. I've been playing with it alot and I'm impressed. It can be opened as fast as an automatic with a quick "thumbnail" flick and it has the same, thin light, portability as the regular 940.

BTW, I believe the 940 is based on Warren Osborne's Sybex model. As far as I know, it was intended as a law enforcement back-up.

HOW many red handled 940's were made?. I cannot locate one and boy have I looked.....Thanks.....wolf

Hey Wolf a red one closed on Ebay today, that did not meet the reserve maybe they will post again. It shows that there were 50 red 940's made.

I have a question for all of you 940 owners. Last year I took all of the gift certificates and money that I got for Christmas and bought myself a blue 940 KOTM. Love the knife and the color but on mine the bevels on the blade are not even. One side is about 50% larger than the other.

My question is, does anyone else have a 940 like this or did I get one that slipped past the QC department?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Wolfmann601, I am pretty sure there were 200 made.

50 satin plain
50 satin partial serration
50 black plain
50 black partial serration

The individual knife will be something like 23/50, like my satin plain :D They didn't say "out of 200"

They are really red too. Almost sparkly in the right light.

I like mine just fine, but find that it feels slim in the hand, but still sharp as the dickens and good blade shape, for me anyways, here is a comparison to the Small Classic Sebenza and the Buck 532...
