Is the Buck Vantage Pro (small) s30v the best small knife under 45 bucks?

I am looking for a high quality folder for under fifty bucks. I want it to be under 3 ounces and have a blade between 1 1/2 inches and 3 inches. I know the delica fits here too but as far as steel quality goes isn't the buck better? So what other knives do you love in this catergory? Thanks

The only folders I have experienced in your category are two Delica versions, one with ATS 55 blade steel, the other in VG 10, an S30v Native, and a small Vantage. Among these I doubt that blade steel would make much of a difference. They all take a good edge and keep it long enough for most purposes.

The one I like best for EDC is the Vantage. It takes up less pocket space, has a clip that provides a secure and discrete deep carry, better blade shape for most cutting chores encountered in my day to day, is easier to clean and more fun to open due to the flipper. If, OTOH, I'm expecting a manual labor kind of day, I prefer the large Vantage, which is more robust for tougher jobs.

The Vantage certainly is a tremendous value when you consider the materials used vs cost. Mine sees a lot of pocket time, but not as much as my D4. The Delica fits my hand better and the ffg blade is a more effective slicer. VG10 is my favourite steel, easy to sharpen and takes a wicked edge.

Been thinking about getting this one myself, if you pull the trigger on this one before I do post a little review

The FFG Delica 4 is a better slicer than the small Vantage Pro, is light and nimble and very popular -- for good reason.

The Vantage is smaller, has one of the best deep-pocket clips you can find (but not black!), and is a great fit in my pocket.

Two very high value folders from their respective houses.

both companies are producing great models but my larger vantage pro in s30 seems to show a slight edge holding advantage & although not a better slicer can take rougher performance.---dennis
