Great freaking Motörhead song, but I digress…. I know some of us have been looking for some particular Busse and Kin for a long, loooong time.

Just saw the thread Don't drop it. Don't drop it. posted about his search for a gladius coming to fruition and thought it would make a cool thread to list how long ya lusted after a scored blade and post a couple pics. I’ll kick it off with these.

Had a full set of the ergos and had to sell them off waaaay back in the day. My ol lady found this NOe at a consignment sale at a local gun shop. For a little over a hundred bucks! Been wanting one since I sold mine. Approximate hunt time - 20 years.



Little while later a good buddy of mine on here trevitrace trevitrace finally sold me his much beloved BMe. I had been bugging him for years to sell it to me, and he eventually felt the time was right. We have an agreement that I’m only the current caretaker and that it will only be passed back to him or his kids or go to my kids. Hunt time - approximately 20 years.

The Mini Uncle Mojo. Missed these when they came out and hunted one ever since. Got a line on one a little while back and pounced on it. Hunt time - since they came out. I have no exact idea when that was, but for some reason I’m thinking it was circa 2008. ?

Swamp Rat M6. Same deal with this as the MUM. Wanted one since they came out. I literally missed buying this EXACT knife 3 times on the exchange. A few years back I asked the then current owner if he’d consider selling. Nope. Forgot all about it. He recently sent me a PM asking if I was still interested. Uhhhhh, hell yeah!!! Hunt time - probably same as MUM or a bit longer.

Just a couple weeks ago I saw another M6 pop up on the exchange. Had to have it. Came to me coated. I etched the logo, stripped the coating, and she’s a real beaut. Hunt time - same as the one above. I’m over the moon to have two of these. They’ve quickly become some of my favorite blades.

So what have you scored, and how long were you looking for it?

Really is a great thread topic. And there are a couple models out there that I've chased.... But not for long. It seems like the longer I wait the more I realize something will come out that might fill the need or want of the knife I was chasing. But a lot of times I continue thinking about the knife I was chasing. I've been looking for a hog badger but no luck in g10. So many Busses.... So little time.... And money.

Here are both variants. Just scrounged through some of my old stuff to find these.

I believe one came with skunk junk from the old company store. And the E handle one came with the desert BM LE

Alright, not 10 years, but 2 years. Being a fan of SR77, and already having MMD v1 and Eraticator, it took me two years to get an MMD v2, for an acceptable price (with unlimited budget it would have been much easier :) ). It came from Switzerland, no less ....

Doesn’t matter to me how long the hunt was, just that there was one and the longing was eventually satisfied.

Also to me the “for an acceptable price” part goes without saying. I mean, anybody can say “I have $2K to drop on this if anybody has one” and wind up with most anything they want. Getting them at an agreeable price is part of the fun.

I'm looking at a Grail right now on an auction site. Yeah, it's about 2k , so this one will Not be mine.... 😉🍺
