I wouold like to know, as it looks cool and it has the triad lock system and the g10 handles. I dont really like the spear point and how the lock is in the middle of the handle and not the end. I just want this knife as it has a 3 inch blade, which abaides with carry laws

I have one. It's a solid little knife. Fit and finish are excellent, it locks up like a vault with no play, and the thin, full flat ground blade slices really well. The only complaint I have is the standard one, which is that the G-10 is too aggressive under the pocket clip, which makes it hard to get in and out of the pocket. A little light sanding of the G-10 under the clip and some minor tweaking of the clip tension solve this easily enough, though.

Don't forget that they have been discontinued and can be found for around $30.

I found it to fit my hand much better than I thought it would.

Edited to add:

The Aus-8A versions have been discontinued to make room for the upgraded 2015 versions in Carpenter CTS-XHP.

If you don't like the blade shape and the lock placement (which is pretty much standard for most modern lockbacks and similar systems), look for something else. There are lots of affordable knives with 3" blades, mate. No need to settle for one that doesn't really do it for you.

Since you seem keen on G-10 handles and the Tri-Ad lock, chech out the Mini Recon 1. There are three different blade shapes to choose from. The Mini Lawman or the Mini AK 47 might be worth a look, too.

other small knives excel in many ways but the H.O. lll at 2.2oz is high value.. mine has been bombproof. You will need strong fingers though.

For all the coolness factor in the holdout series,
It could have been far better if it had a flipper / finger guard.
And I would have bought one...

Wait, they've been discontinued?

I've been putting off getting one, but I guess I'll finally pull the trigger if that's the case...

You should go ahead and get one. A guard is completely unneeded if you have medium to very strong reliable hands. Other hand issues and I would skip this one, however if you do possess the gripdom factor Holdouts are the bomb, think wedge principle the more forward load applied the more the knife "wedges" itself into the hand and same thing in reverse grip..i can't convey it beyond that..you will have to use one to see what I'm talking about. I jimped the hell out of my HO3 and can repeatedly stab plywood as hard as I want with total confidence, even without my thumb on the end of the knife I can still do very hard strikes. These are good knives.

Lynn Thompson regards the H/OUTS his folder of choice [or he did at one time] so think about that for a minute.

The current AUS-8 model has been discontinued. The new model in XHP comes out this year though, the Hold Out line has NOT been discontinued.
