Just wondering how the Emerson Commander/Wave compares to the better BM designs insofar as quality, design and lock strength are concerned.

Whatcha think guys?

Ben

Personally . . . I'd put a Commander up against any production knife on the market. Great knife.

With the wave, the Commander is also the fastest opening knife on the market. Faster even then any auto. I'm forever getting the "How did you do that" and "Do that again" comments when I demo the Commanders.

Um, I've never actually held one, so I can't comment on quality, but if you open that by hooking the Wave on your pocket, it may become illegal in some states. Check your laws for anything about 'a device which enables a locking knife to be drawn in the locked position.' That may cover the Wave (I'm not a lawyer).

The commander is a fine knife. The offset angle on the edge is hard to sharpen for me. Also the common screw slot pivot screw head is a bit cheesy IMHO. I carry it most every day, also have many benchmades, the afck m2 is probably the only one that comes close, but not the same. The black coating will wear and scratch easily, but so do most other brands.
The handle and blade shape just seem to be right for me.
Also, it is a tip up carry with the clip.

All in all, one of my favorites.

What? Another knife? Don't you have enough of those things already?
How many does one person need?
And just what are you going to do with this one that you can't do with the others?
What is the purpose of all these knives anyhow??

There was a good thread on this in the Reviews forum about a month ago, search back and check it out.

I cut it, and I cut it, and it's STILL too short!

I like the Commander alot. It has the sharpest blade of any knife I've bought. The only problem I've had with it is the lock goes over to the far side of the blade since the first time I opened it.
