Hello folks, i've recently have switched from carrying my AFCK's and bigger knives, to smaller blades, like a Delica, or mini AFCK. I am wondering, do you think the CQC7-bye Emerson is illegal, the blade is a little over 3 inchs. I live in the suberbs of long island-bout 30 minutes away from New York. Let's say-god for bid, if i was to get into some kind of confrontation-most likely where i work, and i was to defend myself with this CQC7-as a last resort weapon, would i be in trouble. I would know never to use excessive force-only if say there was 3 against me, or if the attacker had a gun. My main concern is at my job, i am a Manager at a shopping Mall-and about 2 months ago, another manager got held at gunpoint-thank god he was not hurt. I work at a store that sells knives also-how ironic, lol. Basically, do you think i should carry my CQC7's, or stick to blades under 3 inches. Thanks..

Frank, since Long Island is located out of NYC and NY State, it is best to check your local laws concerning blade length restrictions. NYC Administrative Code states that possession of a knife with a blade length of greater than 4" is grounds for arrest, which means it is a violation and a summons would be issued. And your knife would be taken away. Your locale may have different rules and regulations. A reliable source to check with would be your areas District Attourneys office. Also know your STATE LAWS. Get a copy of the NYS Penal Law. Worth its weight in gold.
