I bought one of these a couple months ago. It was my second Emerson.
To be honest, I wondered why I keep buying this brand.
It was a bit cheaper than some 3 folders. I paid $130 for mine. I mostly bought it because I wanted a chisel grind tanto in the folder mix.
The action is typically gritty. Even after the usual take-down and relube, the thing is still rough and slow to open manually. The wave feature works as advertised but I dont like it all that well. The blade lock up isnt very good unless the pivot is really tight. I could forgive all the other downsides on this knife if the action was fast and smooth. After 3 months, it still is simply slow and rough.
I have several other 3 folders that, although a bit more expensive, (some are not), are much nicer than the CQC7.
They are: Al Mar mini SERE, Bradley Alias 2, Spyderco Leafstorm, Benchmade Sequel, Kershaw Speedform 2. Every one of these have much better F/F, smoother actions and better lockup than the Emerson.
Both my Emersons were very crude. Striders may be somewhat crude, but they work well and are excellent knives. My Emersons have been very disappointing. They have a big fan base though, maybe you would love one.
My advice is to save your money, spend about $50 more and get something that you will really like. Otherwise, save some money and get a mini Griptilian. Its a very good knife for the money.
