Is the ESEE folder going to have assisted opening or a flipper?

The reason I ask is I'm looking forward to this knife but if it's going to be AO or a flipper, I will pass on it.

are you talking about the ESEE Zancudo? Because that does not have a flipper or assisted opening and is available already

No not the ESEE Zancudo but wasn't there another one coming out? I can't find the thread on it which is why I started this one.

I hope not but really any details on the Izula folder at this point will be merely speculation, besides that it will be shaped like the Izula.

This link is all that ESEE says officially about the folder:

http://www.eseeknives.com/izula-folder.htm

I have heard that they have the machinery in the Rowen factory, but I can't cite a source.

There are a few protos around, a cooperation between ESEE and DPx, but that fell through.

GPKnives (I think they're a paid dealer here) has a pre-order list. That's all I know.

Right but that's where it's been for the past year or so. I'll believe it when I see it.

The guys at ESEE stick with 1095 in their knives. The 440C versions are not available yet, but even then it is 440C, not even CPM-S30V. A lot of folks thought that the Izula-folder should be 1095 as well. And why not, Rowen seems to know it? We are lucky that the planned Izula-folder will even have a LOCK like the Zancudo ;) Flippers and spring-assists?? Why would they put those in there? I am not saying that any of this is bad, I am pointing out that ESEE tends to stick to pretty basic features. The complicated construction of a spring-assist and well-functioning flipper might add costs that don't really improve the product's function substantially for their target-market, thus I doubt they'd be incorporated into the design... if it ever gets made.

No lefty clip on the Izula folder? Laaaa-aaaaaame. It just needs two friggin' holes!

I really like the looks of this knife and the blade shape, wondering when it will come out. I'm looking forward to it.

Jeff has said over on the ESEE forum the steel for the Izzy folder will be D2 with a target hardness of 60.

might as well just buy another knife. I am beginning to have serious doubts that the ESEE folder will EVER come to market.
