Is the G10 on Military strong enough to hold a pocket clip mod?

Is G10 strong enough by itself to support a pocket clip? I want a Military but cannot carry tip down. Just wondering before I go and buy one if G10 can handle this, I don't want it cracking or straight up breaking on me.

Also if anyone knows of a guide for making the Military tip-up carry or has any pertinent info on the subject I would very much appreciate it. I really couldn't find a whole lot of useful info on this surprisingly.

No, it isn't. Any quality folder has the pocket clip threaded into metal blind nuts or a plate of steel or Ti.

It will handle it. G10 is incredibly tough stuff, and many hardcore folders have no liners at all. Is tapping the screw into a liner better? Probably. Will G10 alone handle it? I say yes.

I bought this Military with the aftermarket clip on it, so I really can't help you with a how-to. Sorry.

I say if your weary about the treads holding up on the g10, I would throw some epoxy in the holes as you tighten it down. Loctite probably won't be the best option. Every little bit helps :)

Interesting responses, I was also considering slightly milling out the G10 and putting a small piece of metal behind the scale just to screw the clip into. Not sure if this will work but I don't see why it wouldn't.

People have put screws directly into the G10 but I don't think I would. I think if you put a piece of metal inside the scale to thread the screws into then you would be good.

Personally I think that knife is far too big for tip-up but some people like it that way anyway. If I pulled it out of my pocket I would have to use both hands to move it around in my hand so I could open it. Or carry it in my left pocket, pull it out with my left hand, transfer it to my right hand in the correct position, then open it.

Is that 4 layers of G-10? Who modded it?

Short answer: yes, with reservations.
Slightly longer answer: It'll work, but won't be ideal, and don't expect to keep screwing/unscrewing the clip because that WILL strip the tapped holes without any metal as a back-up (generally the G-10 strips, but the metal liners don't on standard tapped knives).

You might look into helicoils to anchor the screws.

Here's some info from another thread.

Another tip up Military carry idea. I have successfully mounted many clips on plastic handles by putting stainless steel helicoils in them. The sizes involved are #2-56 and the metric size 2.5X.45. You would probably end up with a staight clip on a curved handle because the Mili clip curves the wrong way (unless you are left handed). The holes in most clips are too small for the metric size. To avoid the hassle of enlarging holes in hardened steel, go with the #2-56 helicoil kit.

For me, I like tip up for safety reasons. I like the spine of the knife against the seam of my pants, and don't care much about pulling it up and shifting it around. I don't care how stiff a detent is, I don't want a 4" blade coming open in my pants, and tip up is added security imo.

Thanks for all the replies I have a few ideas in mind, I think I'll be able to make something work :)
