Is the Gerber LMF II a decent working/survival blade?

I would also like to know if anyone has had any experience with the knife. I bought one the other day. I liked it in the shop but when I came home I started questioning it.

The sheath is difficult to work with, if you don't have the thigh strap on there is no way of getting the knife out one handed (without lubricant).

It came very poorly sharp and the serrations are just where all the force is usually put on the blade when working wood. When you get to PE it' difficult to handle it with accurate force.

But I haven´t tried it yet and I aim to judge it fairly. Especially since it's a Gerber

I'm still waiting for mine but based on the reviews by people who have actually had this knife, it seems pretty good

I have one and love it. I know what you mean about the sheath. I have actually thought of cutting off the plastic piece that holds it in and just rely on the strap to keep it secure. I acutally just sent one to Normark for him to make a sheath for me. I'm sure it will be much better than the factory sheath. I have used it before and it performs well. I plan on making it my #1 camping knife once I get my new sheath.
