Is the grind on ASH1 done before or after heat treating?

Does anyone know if the flat grind on the blade of a CG ASH1 done before or after the heat treating process??

After heat treating a thin layer of decarb will form over all exposed surfaces which can lead to rust if not coated or cared for. I would like to know so if I ever strip one, I would know what parts are decarbed.

Before. But they sand all the decarb off the ASH after they heat treat it.
