Be honest please I'm a few days from mounting everything and it wont be changeable. To my eyes I like it . opinions please

I have plenty of scrap if I need to reforge it. I won't trim this down I'll save it and make another if needed I know it's up to me but I would like some opinions

I would like to see it being more symmetrical, but that's it. If you like it this way then do it. The top piece looks like too much, compared to the bottom half. I like the smaller version of it.

I was really trying to make it look like a simple version of a Spanish haft that why I raised it But now that you said it maybe more synthetical would be more pleasing to the eye. Thanks for the input

Maybe you like this. It's asymmetrical but it makes sense this way.

I don't generally go for big guards, but for a "combat" style knife it makes sense. I would do it like the example posted - the longer arm of the guard should be on the blade side, bent back to protect the fingers. The shorter top arm would be bent forward to act as a blade catcher.

I'm gonna sleep on it but I agree with both of you. I think I'll save this one and forge something like the example

Put the longer part to the bottom and bend the small part forward. Then embellish the guard a bit with file marks. The grind line forward of the guard will be a potential crack line, I would redo the tang and move it up to that grind line. Flat grind lines are potential crack lines, always round inside corners to reduce chance of cracking.

Good ideas. I just got it out of the forge and have alot to do to it still. But I need to decide of I even want to use it first thanks

Front’s fine size-wise, but it looks like it will interfere with the cutting edge. Back is just too big.

Guard is too big, still would make it forward but would make it just a minimalist guard with forward ends. Maybe like an EK guard, or that size with an S guard. Really did like the guard in post 4 also.

If it's meant to catch blades, I guess it's ok. I'm not a knife fighter tho and not sure what is practical.

Durham made a good point, might be hard to sharpen.

I've never seen a relief at the sharpening choil like that in post 4 either.

I'm personally not a big fan of large guards. I don't find them aesthetically pleasing, and due to my lack of edged weapon fighting the practicality is lost. With that said I'm quite sure plenty of people do like them and would purchase them. I would question how many would like them that large though. I'd bet it's a much smaller amount of people. If sales are your eventual goal, it's probably best to go more mass market appeal.
