Is the Kershaw ET considered a gravity knife by NYS?

I haven't handled the ET, and I'm not that familiar with it.

Don't know if you saw this; it's a great summary of NYS/NYC knife laws:

http://www.attackproof.com/laws-regarding-knives.html

Seems to me that if it doesn't lock, can't be opened by centrifugal force, has a blade less than 4 inches, and doesn't generally appear to be "dangerous", it's probably OK.

Just for you, GB, they'll consider it an Auto.

You spend so much time looking for the perfect "legal" folder. I say to heck with it just get the UKPK you've had on your mind for awhile. I know you love that Calypso design.

Carrot, I just want some variation/rotation
Also, the ET is not a folder in the traditional sense

I'm real curious.
A. it doesn't "lock" per se
B. How exactly can you flick this thing open?

Just remember that in NYC almost any knife can be labeled an illegal "dangerous knife". If you aren't sure if this knife is legal just imagine what a judge and a jury full of sheeple will think of it.

In NYC carrying a multitool or a SAK is a much better idea.

Another option would be to visit a store that sells Boy Scout and Explorer uniforms and supplies. Most of them offer a very nice selection of pocketknives with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) logo on them. These knives are about as "sheeple-friendly" as you could possibly get.:)

I own one, so I can assure you that you can flick the ET. It´s probably the worst way to open it, because you have to hold the very edge of the handle, so you risk sending it flying, but it CAN be done.

I'm probably gonna get a Erickson/Todd A Davidson, etc
Just wanted to look into a few others.

Thanks
