Is The Khukuri Autochthonous To Nepal?

Saw that word on the news. My guess then was in the ballpark, but I didn't look it up. Thanks for the definition.

Did anyone see the footage of the kid who passed out? They gave him his word, his eyes got real big and over he went. He sat up after falling down, struggled back up to his feet and spelled the word correctly. Not bad for a brain with incomplete perfusion. Strangely, when he went over, you could hear an official say "stop the clock" but no one approached the supine speller to render aid.

No, it is not, being neither animal nor plant. :)

It doesn't have to be. Neither a rock nor an infection is animal or plant. :D

Main Entry: au·toch·tho·nous
Pronunciation: o-'täk-th&-n&s
Function: adjective
1 : INDIGENOUS, NATIVE <an autochthonous people>
2 : formed or originating in the place where found <autochthonous rock> <an autochthonous infection>
- au·toch·tho·nous·ly adverb

Over half of the words mentioned in the article are not in the abridged online Merriam-Webster. These kids must have studied their butts off. :D

I like words. :D I think I'm gonna try to memorize the OED. ;) I just hope that each of my brain cells can hold more than one word, because I'm thinking there are more words in the OED than I have brain cells in my head.

You may laugh, but one of the highlights of my life was visiting a friend who was on a research fellowship, and getting to look up words in the unabridged version at the Huntington Library. The multi-volume edition in the main reading room filled up about ten by ten feet of shelves.

If you ever get a chance while in Pasadena, check out the Huntington- the library, the gardens or the art gallery. It is well worth the trip.

My daughter loves learning new words so she and tell people off and not offend them

Sounds like your daughter may have a promising future in the Diplomatic Corps. ;)
