Is the new Lionspy clip reversible for LH use?

I'm interested in getting the new Lionspy, but only if the clip is reversible to the other side for LH use. Supposedly, the clip IS reversible on the Lion Steel SR1, which the Lionspy is based on. But, the Spyderco description says the clip is for a right hand orientation. Anybody know?

Yes it is reversible, you even get the tools to do it.

The clip is pretty strong and with the machining the way it is done it is pretty difficult to retrieve it when clipped.

Would you recommend not even using the clip? Seems like a pretty large knife for carrying it loose in a pocket.

I have my LionSpy clipped to my LFP and it can be difficult to retrieve. Attaching a lanyard of sorts makes retrieval 100x easier.

Assume you may be a fellow lefty then. Do you find the Lionspy easy to work with your left hand--both opening and closing--or do you have to revert to RH or use 2 hands?

If you're gonna switch the clip to the other side, you might consider sanding a tiny section of the G-10 beneath the clip. I did that on my G-10 Spyderco Mini Persian and that made it much easier to retrieve.

About using the knife left handed, that shouldn't be an issue. I can operate mine both left- and right handed. Actually, since the lock is so strong, unlocking it with your left hand (squeezing your thumb between the G-10 liner and the lock) actually goes a bit easier left handed then right handed. The titanium is quite slippery for such a strong lock.

I am a fellow lefty and it's not terribly difficult to close left handed but as pointed out above the titanium is a bit slippery.

In general, after using the Lionspy, I would sure like to hear the general assessment that folks have before I plunk down $320 for one.

- Would you "highly recommend" it?
- Do you think it's a better value overall than the comparable SR1 models (the aluminum framelocks in D2 for about $230, or the Titanium framelocks in Sleipner at about $400)?
- What DON'T you like about it?

there are many great titanium framelock folders for $300-$400

this for sure is one, the opening hole works great and the rotolock and the steel insert in the frame lock make it a well engineered piece

you really should consider this one if you're after a thick and strong blade with lots of belly

for refinement, the lock bar could use a little jimping

Also does anybody have an expectation of how this blade will compare in a general way with the forthcoming Zero Tolerance "Hinderer" 0561 frame lock/flipper models? I know a few people have the 0561's, but they are not widely available yet. They look interesting too, but are hollow ground and don't have the same "fat blade" design of the LionSpy, not to mention no Spyder hole. I know I know: "get both." :-) Not an option right now, I can probably only afford one nice folder for the next year or so.

From looking at the pics, the Lionspy will probably give you a beefier blade & handle, and a steel insert in the titanium frame lock and the 'rotolock'.

It really depends on what you prefer. The fluted titanium Spyderco Military is nice as well. Sal told us at the A'Dam show that new batches will have a different kind of treatment so the colors will be a more consistent blue, and they will probably have the steel instert in the titanium frame lock as well. Much more a slicer then the Lionspy.
