Is the Nirvana Worth It?

So with the discontinuation of the Nirvana and the Bowie, I'm looking to pick up either one of them. I'm having a hell of a time finding a Bowie so I'm leaning towards a Nirvana at the moment. Is it worth it? Have the issues from its release (lock stick, corrosion forming on the blade) been addressed?

Thanks!

Totally worth it. If you experience any lock stick, it won't last long based on my own experience. I also never experienced any corrosion on its blade. The one that I EDC is sans pocket clip, and is carried in a Lifter's Leather belt sheath. Given that it is being discontinued after only 1.5 years of production, I am glad that I have four specimens in total.

That's good to hear. Is it just a standard Spyderco clip? I was thinking about putting a deep carry on it.

I have both, I would without hesitation suggest the Slysz but not the Nirvana. The low saber grind makes It unbalanced and it’s very front heavy. The action isn’t great either, especially for bearings

I think the Nirvana is one of the best looking Spydercos ever built. The shattered glass pattern on the Ti is just sick. But the finish on the blade ruins it for me. It's quite prone to snail trails and scratches from cutting most anything. The Ti handle is also a scratch magnet.

I think if the blade was ffg with a satin finish then the Nirvana would have been a hit.

I agree, eventually I’ll send mine out to Josh @ REK but in the meantime it’s sitting in a safe. I love Spyderco but for the price of a Nirvana + regrind I would probably consider a few other options

I have both, the Nirvana is cool, but my Slysz Bowie is the preferred carry and user. The nirvana leans more towards collectible and nice to look at.

Despite it's shortcomings , I like the Nirvana. I may even pick up a couple more before they're all sold out. The one-piece Ti handle is beautiful. But that blade finish is just trouble. And ffg is def preferred over the saber grind.

I really hope there will be a Nirvana2 that addresses the issues mentioned above.

Always thought the Nirvana was odd, but then I think of the Draper and by comparison it doesn't look so strange. Weird to see problems with S90V rusting, just goes to show how much a finish really can change a steel.

Why they made the Draper I will never understand, that and the Mamba are the two knives I have never seen a single time up for resale.

i've seen both the draper and mamba for resale at least once, of the two i like the mamba more.

but i too want to get the nirvana, much more so than the bowie, but only to put it in the safe. bowie would be a user no doubt. would you guys think the resale price for the nirvana would go up or down in the future?
