Is the Pen knife still being made?

Shann's thread about which Khukri to introduce people to the world of traditional/H.I. Khukris got me thinking of the Pen knife and how great the little guy is. Then I realized that I have not seen any come up for sale recently. Have I just missed seeing them, or are they not that frequent any more?

I have a 12" Ang Khola instead of a Pen knife, which helps cover my small Khukri needs, but I remember being part of the Pen knife pass around back in late 2002 or early 2003. It was a really useful little Khukri. Along with light chopping, cutting and splitting, I remember people using it and there own as a Spatula in the kitchen.

Just curious if this handy little Khukri is still being made. Thanks!

You would have to ask Auntie to be sure there is some in stock, but seeing as how they are listed on the store website for sale, you'd think she has at least one laying around. The Items sold here are excess inventory and Blem items that she gives us participating forumites good deals on. when she can.

there was a pen knife in the dotd sometime in the last week. (28JAN13 to be precise)

I almost made the same mistake, but I couldn't believe that wildmanh would not have noticed the Jan 28th DOTD.

Turns out he posted his question back on Nov 19, and someone else bumped the thread with a reply.

:) the perils of resurrecting the dead. (what khukuri should we use to kill a zombie thread? :))

i did note that date after acabre brought it back to the top, but thought that he & the OP should be made aware they ARE definitely still being made and he should keep his eyes peeled and try to beat the dotd sharks. (and they have missed it ;))

OP's specific q. about 'are they still being made' was not quite specifically covered.

Dotd sharks? I always called em lucky son of a guns.

It's not about luck, it's about speed. Not so much the speed of your fingers on the keyboard. It's more about how fast you can make a decision and then strike.

It helps to have a prepared and prioritized list of what you want. However, the real test of a shark is when a new or rarely seen model turns up, and you have to decide on the fly, and you know that half a dozen other sharks are out there circling the DOTD.

Shop and Kamis will make more Pen Knife within a month.
Thank you all for your patience

It would help me to have a bucket full of money. I can handle the rest. If it looks cool, which is pretty much a given I want it. For me it's figuring out where the loot will come from on the fly so I can make my move.
I've been lucky and nailed a couple even as a nubby greenhorn. No buyer remorse yet.

Gent's, thanks for breathing new life into this thread! And Yangdu, thanks for the heads up!

The Pen knife was designed by a forum member named Dan [can't remember his last name] that used to go by Pendentive before he became a big time knife maker and switched his screen name. He did a pass-around with the first Pen knife and I was on it. Also I've had the chance to play with a few more since they were introduced back in late 2002 or early 2003.

Last fall there was a ton of complaining and bashing going on in this forum. I started this thread to find out what happened to the Pen knife and to get interest back in knives instead of squabbling.

Say the Pen knife posted a few weeks ago. Very cool!! Can't wait to see more. I have plenty of knives, so I probably won't get one, but for those people who will, you're in for a treat. It's a great knife!

Yep, Dan Koster did a great job designing it:) I've had a 12" Bura-made PK for years and years. I can't wait to see what this newer generation of kamis do with the design.
