I was reading earlier that the Ronin and Perrin are slated to be discontinued for 2005. Does anyone know for sure if this is true? I really hope that it isn't, because these are two of the best fixed blades on the market.

True story....

I was laying in bed with my wife the other morning, and she looks at me and says..."What are you thinking about?"

I respond... "I heard a rumor that they might be discontinuing the Spyderco Ronin, and I want one but I don't have one yet..." (seemed romantic at the moment...)

Well later that day, I was on the computer, actually on the Snody Knives webpage, and she says to me..."Why don't you order that knife you were talking about." I was like... WHAT!?!? I said "really?" She said yes... so it was of to order it...

So having said that... I really NEED Spyderco to discontinue the Spyderfly, The Military, The Chinook... and a few others!

However, I too would hate to see the Ronin leave production, it is one of the best neck knives. And as the cost on the Perrin drops, I am getting interested in it.

Hello there. Sorry if this is on a tangent, but I would like to ask the Perrin users here on how to grip the Perrin Bowie properly without the hand slipping onto the knife. I find that the so-called Filipino grip doesnt feel so secure with this knife because when I grip the tear drop shaped handle with my last 3 fingers, it has a tendency to slip downwards, and it's not so easy to pinch the notch/choil with my thumb and index fionger either. Or am I doing it wrong???

Many thanks for any helpful suggestions as I realy dont want to accidentally cut myself (again)...
