I just did that to get you attention :)

I went to a gun & knife show today, I got to see and handle a few of CR's products. My wife was with me and wanted to get me something special for my birthday next week. I was ready to buy a regular large Seb with a polished blade, but she convinced me to get a Umnumzaan. I liked the elegance of the Seb, but she liked the rugged look of the Umnumzaan. To be honest I liked both but figure I can get a regular Seb later on.

Here's a few pictures I took.

Great pics!

I have one small 21 and one large sebbie with double lugs (both plain look).
Now i have my eyes on a second large sebbie, this time with silver lugs :)

I would like to get the umnumzaam one day also, but im bit concerned about the wear resistance of the o-ring on the thumb lugs...

One question, is the swedge sharp ?

The swedge on my knife doesn't seem to be sharp enough to cut anything , but as you get close to the tip it is a little sharper. I got a small cut on my finger when the blade hit it while opening. But I like the swedge ....
The o-rings should be pretty easy to get.

I wonder if anyone has needed to get new ones?

great pics...I think this knife is now priority over the small sebenza that I wanted to match my large.

I find it interesting how differently people perceive things. Opposite of your opinion, I think the Umnumzaan looks elegant and the Sebenza rugged.:)

Yes a consumers perception is definitely a mystery...... here's what I saw when comparing both the Sebenza & Umnumzaan . The Seb was thinner , lighter , the blade appeared to be flatter and disappeared into the handle when folded. I liked the way the blade had a rounded spine. The Seb had no sharp edges and felt like a gentleman's knife in the hand. The anodized thumb stud added to the perception of an elegant gentleman's knife.

The Umnumzaan with its dual studs / blade stops ( and bumpers) plus the weight , size , thickness and swedged blade looks like a Seb that turned into Dr. Jekyll. :)

I hate to be a fly picker but I think you mean Mr Hyde :p:thumbup:

I initially got into the Sebbies because of the elegance; specifically, the Limited Editions with premium woods. After about eight of them, I just got my first Umnumzaan. I held off getting the Umnumzaan because I had enough users and I didn't think I would carry it let alone use it.

When Neil told me about his special run of Umnumzaans, I had to get one. I will say the lock up is something very special. I equate it to the closing of a hand made car door. I nice silent 'thud'.

It hasn't left my pocket in a couple of weeks already!

Borrowed this pic from TKC. I haven't taken any of my own yet. Serial #1! I will take some today and replace it with my own pic.

That's really nice....

you mentioned the lock up and I have a question, it looks as though there is something embedded in the lock-face, is that what I see or is it my eyes?

Never mind , I read about it on CR's site.

"A ceramic ball creates the interface between the blade locking surface and the integral locking arm surface. The ball doubles to drop into a detent on the blade to ensure the blade does not open accidentally. "

You could have gotten a regular? What? You know they are discontinued right? I love my small regular, and though I ant to buy an umm I still like the seb's design and looks more.

Still Congradulations on a very fine knife!

I was undecided and let my wife pick, she chose the Umnumzaan. I figured her opinion was completely unbiased. But at least I know I want a Seb too.
