Is the spa treatment worth it?

Hello, recently found an lefty commander at a steal of a price on eBay. It came in today and it's pretty dirty and needs a good tuning/ sharpening.

I was curious if anyone has used the spa treatment that Emerson provides. It costs $45 that seems pretty steep, but if it will come back looking like a CRK after a spa trip it would be worth it.

Thanks

For what its worth, i dropped off my sheepdog earlier this year, had a broken tip which i "Repaired" on my own... i just dropped it off to add serrations, but i think they gave it the full spa treatment, because they completely reground the tip, looks absolutely amazing! That said, it took just shy of two months... but honestly, thats not too bad considering the time it takes to get a custom emerson serviced.

I don't think I would pay approximately 25% the cost of a new Emerson to have someone clean, sharpen and put the knife back together.
I regularly do this with almost every knife I get.

On the service form off the website it says the spa treatment includes pivot bolt, pivot and handle screws, clip, washers, thumb disc and screw, cleaning and sharpening. I bought a well used Bulldog earlier this year off the exchange and sent it in for the spa. Came back pretty much a new knife. Took about two weeks.View attachment 867158

If you want new hardware for your knife, the spa treatment is pretty good. I like replacing the pivot on heavily used Emersons, but you can do this on your own too. Over the years I have accumulated plenty of spare parts and do my own spa treatments. If necessary, I'll buy some spare parts on my direct orders from Emerson.

Went ahead and cleaned it up good myself. Working on sharpening it right now using a sharpmaker. I've never sharpened a recurve so it has been kind of difficult. Also the blade has several nicks so it is going to take me a while. It is nice though only having to sharpen one side.

I would just pay the $5 for sharpening they usually take care of the rest. I sent in my horseman with late lockup and vertical blade play. It came back with a fresh edge early lockup and no blade play, all for $5 plus shipping
