Is the V-Sharp Classic II a good sharpener?

never tried one. watched the video. guess once ya have it reprofiled to hit those think it said 20, 25, 30 set angles....seems like it might be a quick easy way for touchups.......but im speculating since I haven't tried.

I just looked at a 60 second tutorial. Looks promising enough I think. Better than your static pull through sharpeners certainly.

Have a couple of Spyderco Sharpmakers, should I stay with this system and get a set of diamond sticks or go with the with the V-Sharp?

op listen to this fella....^ if David says it looks promising that means something. he makes knives after all and would know a thing or two about sharpening......

I can't say anything about build quality or reliability of the V-sharp, not having tried it, but the principle appears sound. The SharpMaker still has its place, as more of a maintenance tool but the V-sharp looks like it will save you a lot of time resetting a dull edge. The only thing I could see myself taking issue with on the V-sharp is the fact that the two stones are offset from each other, which suggests to me that the edge contact will start a little further forward on one side of the edge than the other, but if you can rotate it 180° on your table and do equal number of passes both ways it shouldn't be an issue. Just my impression from what I saw.
