Im thinking about picking one up and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it and if it was worth the price of it.

I have a Wicked Edge pro pack and I like it very much. I just got it over the holidays and have re-profiled my Manix 2 and my Benchmade 940. I got good results. I also assume my edges will get better with more time/practice. If you just need to touch up edges there are certainly lower cost good options like the Sharpmaker. Lots of discussion on the Wicked Edge vs. the Edge Pro. I cannot comment on that debate as I have never used an Edge Pro. I am happy with my purchase so for me, the Wicked Edge is worth the money.

I much prefer the WE to the Edge Pro I had first. I find it much easier to use and get good results.

Don't know for sure it has 8 diamond stones 100 200 400 and 600 and its like 180 with shipping

I just got the wicked edge pro pack on Thursday last week. The very first knife I sharpened got fairly sharp and I was in a hurry just to try the system. The second one attempted I took my time and worked to 1600, then stropped. It was the sharpest knife I've ever held, and it was only my second time using the system. There were some very tiny scratches from the lower grit but I'm sure they would come out in time. I wasn't absolutely blown away, but it did perform how I'd hoped and lived up to the hype, at least what I've read.

I also have a 2x72, the WE gave a cleaner and sharper edge, although it takes longer and required a little more attention.

That's the standard model with no base, normally $275, so a great price. (worth the money)

Many buy the next set of stones up after the initial purchase for another $65. (800/1000)

Lots of people love it but it is getting up there in price. Also I feel that some of the modifications to the original unit are too expensive.

Since the WE was announced, they have addressed the 'play in the pivot joints' with a update costing ,I think, $140. Also there is now a riser block to allow lower angles when sharpening.More money. Also the rods that the sharpening paddles slide in could have been a better fit ( minimize slop/play ) and polished. Development of the unit is still underway. Depending on your point of view, this can be considered good or bad. Overpriced in my opinion.

Is it worth the price?

Not to me. Perhaps it is to you. It's an excellent device.
But for me, the $12 DMT Aligner gives me all the edge I want/need on folders and fixed blades under 7". The EdgePro covers me for longer blades.

I got the standard model for Christmas and I have been very happy with it. I have been hand sharpening for over forty years and I can get a shaving sharp edge but the sharpness I can get with the WE is extraordinary.

I butcher lots of deer every year. I use a Browning Bird and Trout knife for everything except field dressing and skinning. With a hand sharpened edge (shaving sharp to start) I have to touch up the blade on a steel at least a half dozen times per deer.

With a highly polished edge that I can get with the WE and 2500 grit sandpaper, I was able to completely process two deer without any touch-up. At the end of the process, the knife was still hair popping sharp.
