Is the XM-18 one of the only few knives where the maker recommends using it to pry?

As far as I can tell, there's only a few knives where the company/maker actually says the knife was made for prying. And the XM-18 is one of them. Rick says he made the tip especially for prying. He even uses the folding knife as a throwing knife. I don't know if he's saying you should do that, but it doesn't exactly deter from it.

Don't forget the Graham Bros Razel. They also have a production version through CRKT. I have an XM-18 in my pocket but I don't think I'd pry with it, even if Rick says it's ok.

All the XMs I have had would stand up to heavy prying. Meaning If you don't put a pipe on the handle and pry, it will take it.

They are tanks! That's what they do... "hard use/abuse" is what they are made for. ;)

Strider and Busse also come to mind

I thought the Mission titanium bladed knives were good for prying.
Titanium will not bend, nor is it brittle. Seem to recall the article
Tactical Knives did on it years ago mentioned ability to pry.

Even the MPF, titanium bladed folder could be used. There are no
washers or spacers between the blade and the handle slabs.
Blade rides right against the handles.

The only thing I do not like about them is the titanium blade does
not keep an edge worth a damn. 440C or AUS-6M are better.

But I guess if you are intent on using a cutlery tool as a prybar,
edge holding plays second fiddle anyhow.

Yup, that is why they have the "Spanto" blade. Rick has also driven his Jeep over one of his XM-18's to show how tough the knife is.

Apart from those mentioned above, can't remember if they said it could or not, but I think Crusader Forge might make that list?

Ehh... I'd disagree with this part, not just as an absolute statement, but also relatively. From my 1st year materials course, Ti has an elastic modulus about half that of steel, and toying around with both Ti and SS sheets of equal dimensions backs up the observation that Ti bends easier than steel. Doesn't mean that Ti is crap for it, but it will definitely bend easier than a steel blade of equal dimensions.
