Is the ZT300/301 too heavy for you?

I used to have one but I forgot what the weight actually felt like, oddly enough it wasn't the weight that told me not to get one, I just wanted my first Sebenza at the time, but obviously tastes change and stuff. Are they too heavy for you guys? I'm tired of sending my Striders back in to the spa every six months and the ZT0301 was the only knife I'd compare to a Sebenza for longevity.

I don't like the 0550 or 0560, handled both of them at the knife store extensively.

Not at all, man. Atleast I don't think they're too heavy. They feel perfectly weighted for the ergonomics of the knife, along with being perfectly weighted for the intended use of the knife. I can EDC one all day and forget it's even there. For a knife so big and beefy, I actually think they're lightweight.

Of course, this is all just my opinion.

For me, yeah, sometimes. Depends on the pants I'm wearing. With jeans or fairly snug, heavy-fabric pants it's pretty much a non-issue, the weight itself doesn't trouble me, I'm willing to carry it and it's okay in the hand, but with lighter-weight slacks, shorts or cargo pants with different pocket shapes it can make the pocket sag and can swing around like a pendulum hanging off my belt, which is at least distracting and certainly makes it more obvious. For that reason, unless I happen to be wearing jeans the 0301 tends to get left in the dresser and I carry the 0551 or sometimes the 0350 (0560 not here yet). I'm a little disappointed in my decision to buy the 0301 in that regard, it is just too heavy to be an all-around EDC for me and lives mostly in a drawer. It has a lot of company there.

For me it wasn't the weight but the size when clipped in the pocket and the clip. Don't get me wrong, the weight in hand was perfect, well balanced and built as good as any knife I own(ed). But when it was clipped into my pocket, it was the only thing I could put in there. Keys, change, etc. all had to go in a another pocket. I did a review here

I'd have to agree about the actual fit in the pockets, but that's simply due to the fact where the pocket clip is placed and the pocket clip design. I wouldn't blame the way it rides in the pocket on the weight, though. I think the pocket clip is more to blame for that. I do agree, though. It wears well in jeans, work pants, tactical pants, etc but not so good in slacks or pockets that are straight up and down or angled down, not curved like on most jeans.

I've been accustomed to carrying large knives (Buck 110, BM 630 Skirmish, etc), clipless, in my back pocket, so the 0301 was no problem. It's friendly/polite assist function just wasn't appreciated here, so it sits at home a lot these days, it's place recently taken by a 0551/0561 or 4001 or, gasp, a BM 275 Adamas!

I carry a ZT 301 for the last year.
People who think they are too heavy must have a neuro-muscular disease or something :D

I carried an 0300 before getting my 0560. I never thought it was too heavy but now I do. The 0560 gives me everything I like in the 0301 in a lighter knife. Without the 0560 it would be my first choice. The 0300 carried better for me because I have deep pockets and the 0300 allowed me to have things in the pocket under the knife. With the 0560 everything rides beside it and bangs against it as well as pushes the handle out so it profiles as clearly a knife which may be an issue for some people. I was planning to rotate between the 0300, 0560 and possibly an Adamas but the 0560 rides all the time while the 0300 is on the bedstand and Adamas in my safe. What about the 0560 didn't you like?

I have one, and yes it is too heavy - and bulky - for me. I carry it on occasion, but not often. And I don't use a folder to pry car doors open very often, so for me the heft is really not needed. Or even appreciated.

I Love My ZT 0301.
I Think It's Weighted Awesomely And Feels Extremely Great In The Hand.
When In The Pocket, It Doesn't Really Weigh Down.
If There's Anything You Notice About It In The Pocket, It's The Thickness, And Even Then It Fits Pretty Well In The Pocket.

In My Opinion It Is Just One Of The Best Out There.

It's not that I don't like Striders, I just think that to maintain decent lockup you have to send it in like once in a while which is getting annoying when I EDC one every day and put like a mile of cardboard through it's edge.

The ZT I have known to be good for pretty much forever, I don't even read of any "success stories" concerning the 300/301 being serviced ever.

The reason I want it sort of is because I know it can cut time itself and will keep truckin' but really the weight could be a serious issue. I don't have a daylaborer's job so it's not like I need something that tanky all day long, I just like the way it looks and feels in the hand. But really if it's going to carry weird, I don't know if I could do it. I normally carry an 8oz 29 Knives balisong (in my avatar) but balisongs carry very thinly for what they are so it's a non issue.

I have a 0300 & a 0301 that I carry quite often. I don't mind the weight or the bulk at all. I Like big knives, if a knife is less than 6.0 oz it just doesn't feel right.

Not too heavy when clipped to the pocket. However, some people need to have a lighter pocket knife. I don't notice it after a while, I guess I just don't stop to contemplace the weight.

i think it depends if you have a job where you actively use a stout blade, then no folder is really too heavy...but i have found the 300 series too heavy and wide for my every day use, so i opted for the 350...but, i also have a 200 and that one is load in pocket BUT when i need the power of a 4" blade weight is never an issue.

I have the 0301, 0551, and 0560, and carry them all. I don't find the 0301 too heavy, and mostly my knives are weekenders, because I can't carry thme at work. Therefore, it is often a pair of jeans or kahkis and the 0301 is fine in either.

Too bad you don't like the 0550 or 0560 as they have been getting a lot of pocket time, especially the 0560 along with the 0301. A few ounces more or less doesn't seem to matter to me. YMMV.

It's not too heavy.. but there are better options in my book. The width is what bothers me more.. it takes up too much space in the pocket. Wide sucks for a pocket knife, as with any concealed carry piece.
