I learn a little more every time I come here and every time I start surfing the net for info on Bowie knives. I found the Hibben Alamo Bowie yesterday and today you guys tell me there are custom knife makers with authentic copies of the Musso Bowie for a lot less than $1,800.

So lead me to a custom knifemaker who offers a carbon steel copy of the Musso Bowie, ivory (ivory micarta, tru-ivory...whatever) grips and the cheaper the better..

With all do respect, I believe you're going about this wrong.

WHile you can continue to ask us questions while you learn, pretty soon we'll be tired of it and quit answering. Maybe you should just spend a little time learning on you own first, searching, hanging out, etc.

I am way too agressive for that.

The way I have always gained knowledge has been by finding someone who knew what I wanted to know and then picking their brains. Besides, I'm doing that other stuff, also. I bet I've spent 15 or 20 hours in the past week surfing the net for Bowie info.

This site has been one of my main sources of info. Before I started coming here, I had never heard of the Musso Bowie or the Searles Bowie. I knew the Black story and was familiar with the fact that the knife he made (or said he made) for either Jim or Rezin was more like a fancy butcher knife than what I had always thought of as a Bowie.

As I said on another post, there are people on this site who have forgotten more about knives than I know. If you are reluctant to share some of that knowledge, so be it. But I'm sure someone else won't mind answering my questions.

I typed "Musso Bowie" in the search box and got 56 hits. Have at it.

You could always order a Randall Bowie. Sure, the wait is 4 and a half years, but I'm told it's worth it.

Are Basic and/or Registered Members now allowed to use the "Search" function? At one point, it was not available to them.

Not sure. Doesn't say anything about Search on the Upgrade page.

Glad you made that point. My response was "what search function?" I use Musso Bowie on Yahoo or Google and I get a couple hundred thousand hits.

"search" function, in this forum....:D
allowed even to a french registered forumite, so it should work for a texan one !
