Using your Lochsa to open a Swarovski 8.5x42 EL box...
couldn't resist ;)
Congrats on an excellent purchase, they will last forever! :)

Congrats, they look just like mine except mine are green.
Do the black ones smell as bad as the green ones when they are new?If they do,don't worry,it disappears in a couple of weeks.

OH,and I used a lefty sebenza to open the packaging. :D

sweet - I hope you'll post a review after you've used them some. I got a lot out of your response (and links) to my "binos around $500" and ended up deciding to wait a bit and go straight to a higher end bino. Possibly something like what you just bought :D

Using your sebenza and slashing a big gash across the lens/body etc of your way cool leica bino's.

Congrats! Quality binos are definately on my list of things to buy. Buy quality and cry once. (at the price)

I don't know. I got a new small Sebenza a few days ago. Please send me a pair of NIB Leica's so I can share your joy!

I'd love to have a pair of high end binos like those, just haven't been willing to drop the cash, since I don't use the two pair of Steiners I have enough to justify buying something better. Maybe one day...

Nice! A good pair of binoculairs is still missing in my inventory.

Any reason for the Leica Max over the Swarovski?

Principally aesthetics. I just don't like the look of the Swarovskis. Also, the Leicas are consistently the best-reviewed binoculars of their type. This Scandinavian review site calls them "The best 8 x 42 binoculars we have tested."

I haven't had the opportunity to give them a scientific evaluation yet, but early results are very encouraging!

Has anyone ever tried the Duovids? I'm surprised no one else seems to have come out with a two-magnification binocular. (NOT a zoom!)

Congratulations on your new Ultravids, Max, and I'm glad you got to open them with a Sebenza. ;)

Leica makes the best binocs I have ever seen. I can't imagine anyone making a better constructed piece.

Nice specs...

I've gotta say, one thing that feels a little better than opening something with a sharp knife is: planting ones right foot against the floorboards of a high performance automobile. Doing so in such a way that the accelerator pedal is trapped beneath your foot and the carpet!

:D

Huh huh... I didnt pick the name hotrod for nuth'n! ;)
