Recently a case texas jack has caught my eye. I really like that design but it is too small for me. Is there a bigger version of that design I don't care who it's made by but i would like it if it was a bone handle and made out of carbon steel.

I assume you are talking about the Case Small Texas Jack offered currently in Amber Bone CV? There was once a regular Texas Jack, the 6292 model, which was a bigger version of the 62032 that is the current Small Texas Jack.

They haven't been made in a while but if you keep your eye on the auction site you can find a few.

You mean...something like this?

Fausto

Nice Fausto - that there is a candidate for a Forum Knife pattern. Lovely old green bone!

Here is a poor quality photo I took to compare the sizes of the 62032 and the 6292 - definitely a difference in the pocket and in the hand. OH

I wonder why they would stop making them.

I just bought a used Case 6292 (Texas Jack) last week from a knife sale website (1978 brown bone, CV blades). It was rather inexpensive for a Case so I ordered it on a whim. I have to say that the 4" serpentine pattern is a perfect fit in the hand. I'm going to make it my EDC for a while.
kendric....check out that big auction site. There are quite a few out there for sale.

I wanted a bigger Texas Jack a while back as well, and couldn't find one, so I ended up getting a large Case Copperhead, which I like a lot. Same blade configuration, but of course the overall design is a bit different. I haven't found any in CV though. This one was originally smooth white bone. I did the worm grooving and darkened it with a little brown leather dye.

I'd really like to find one like Fausto's, though!

Here's a photo I took a while back of my (at that time) collection of Case jack knives:

Clockwise from top: 62032 Amber Bone CV Small Texas Jack, 62087 Brown Barnboard SS Medium Jack, 6292 Brown Jigged Bone CV Texas Jack, and 62032 Sunset Winterbottom Bone SS Medium Jack. [Yes, Case sometimes calls the '2032 patterns "Medium Jack" and sometimes calls the '2087 patterns "Medium Jack"]

I think the reason the '292 Jack (and '392 Stockman version) were discontinued is due to the amount of overlap with other Case patterns in a similar size range. I think the '75 large stockman (essentially a larger version) and '47 stockman (same serpentine frame, but rounded bolsters) took over the Stockman range, and the '49 Copperhead and '54 Trapper designs covered the larger Jack range.

Case seems to have made a decision a few years back to focus only on certain patterns and let others die off, or go into their "Vault" of temporary discontinuation. I guess when they were cutting patterns from the lineup, something had to go, and the '92 (and '99 and '31 and '35 jacks) were some of the casualties. But they keep adding new ones, mostly from their relationship with Tony Bose, so I guess it's all part of the knife business.

If I were going to actually carry a Case 2-blade jack in that size range with a pen secondary, I'd probably opt for the Copperhead due to the rounded bolsters and sunken (more like covered) joint, just to save wear and tear on the pockets. In practice, when I want to carry a larger Case knife, it usually ends up being a regular Trapper.

Here are a couple of pics of some of mine, taken a while back, along with some of their Mini Copperhead kin:

GEC's #81 pattern is about the same size as a Case #92 pattern isn't it??

Kendrik, as other knives beside the 6292 have been introduced into the discussion, you may want to keep your eyes open for a 4" Old Cutler Texas Jack (#523) - very similar to the Case 6292. They make for a good using knife, this one has jigged Delrin handles, nice snap, brass liners, match-strike pull, and carbon steel; they can be found for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a Case. Old Cutler was the upscale brand offered by Colonial Cutlery during the 1970's and 1980's. I've seen them with this shield (common) or a COLONIAL shield (not too common) - but same knife. OH
Ps I added my Case 6292 picture for a direct comparison.
