I'm trying to date my new Explorer plus to tell for sure if it's the newer 6x glass magnifier, or the plastic 5x magnifier. I want it to be the glass one. It was new and sealed in the box. Since I can't tell for sure from the tang stamp, I was thinking maybe the box is marked? Thanks for any info you can offer.

Well, lots of helpful info here....🤷🏻‍♀️

Everyone calm down you'll get your turn to speak... 🎤

Don't all speak at once...🙄

Really, if anyone knows the answer please share. If not, thanks anyway and have a good night.

The boxes aren´t marked. Sorry.

The switch to glass was 2012ish, so chances are you´ll get a newer one, Good luck!

I believe the plastic magnifiers were one-piece (meaning the lens and the housing were the same piece of plastic), whereas the new glass magnifiers, obviously, have a glass lens in a plastic frame. With the glass magnifier, it's possible to rotate the lens in the frame by holding the lens between your thumb and finger. If the lens turns, it's probably glass.
