Hi, ive recently been learnin about india and sambar stag for the use of knife handles i know that sambar and india stag are preferred by many people but what would the difference be between stabilized whitetail and muledeer horn opposed to regular india stag or sambar stag?

Stabilized means the horn has been impregnated with a resin in order to make it tougher and I believe more dimensionally stable.

Obviously American whitetails are not the same species as Indian sambars, so their antlers probably look different too.

This thread is a few years old, but it has some excellent info in regards to the types of stag used for knife handles.

Sambar has thicker walls and less porous pith core.
It's also very dense and color is often creamy.

A wellmade Sambar Stag handle is a joy to hold!

The trick is to find a goodlooking piece of Sambar.
